KiU PROJECT

CSR/KiU initiatives

KiU is a brand that specializes in outdoor goods specializing in rain, with the motto of facing "nature" and enjoying the place no matter what weather. It is because of the various weather conditions that our products are useful. However, sometimes "nature" makes our lives difficult in the form of disasters. Japan is a country with more natural disasters than other countries. It is no surprise that major disasters will occur at any time, such as earthquakes, typhoons, heavy rains, heavy snowfall, and volcanic eruptions.

What we, who live in Japan, can do. Not "after a disaster occurs," but "preparing for something if something happens." We at KiU, who have been dealing with the weather, have thought that we can return some of the revenue we have obtained through our products to coexist with nature.

KiU launched a project in 2016 with the mission to raise 100 million yen in funds to help people actually aim for reconstruction in the event of a major natural disaster. I let it go.

We will cooperate with the Nippon Foundation's Special Fund for Disaster Reconstruction.

THE NIPPON FOUNDATION

We don't want disasters to occur if possible. Unfortunately, natural disasters are inevitable in Japan. And disaster prevention measures are too late once they have been awakened. In the event of a disaster, in the affected areas, administrative activities such as infrastructure restoration are also essential, as well as detailed support activities that are close to the victims from a private perspective. The activities of NPOs and volunteer organizations play a major role in the disaster-stricken areas. A system is needed to ensure that these organizations accumulate support funds so that they can act first in the early stages.

In March 2014, the Japan Foundation has been working on disaster recovery support activities such as the Great East Japan Earthquake, and other disasters, with the aim of providing prompt emergency assistance from the private sector in the event of a large-scale disaster. A special fund has been launched. As part of the brand's mission, KiU will participate in the "Special Fund for Disaster Reconstruction Support."
